Find a data logger for monitoring the depth of rivers, reservoirs, tidal waters, groundwater or seawater. These loggers can be suspended by a steel wire or an electrical cable for lowering down into a well or bore hole to monitor water levels. The results are stored in internal memory and can be uploaded to a computer for geotechnical analysis and generation of import data files or charts.
